The captain of the New Zealand squad will be remembered as the man who led his team to its
first ever test victories at the home of cricket - Lords and the Oval and to its
second ever series win over England away. He is also the youngest player to be named as
the captain of the New Zealand team at the age of 23. In his first year, he led New
Zealand to a four consecutive victories at home against Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe. All this
makes Fleming the Second most successful New Zealand captain next to Geoff Howarth who led
the team to 11 test victories from 30 matches in 1979-85. |
