A high class batsman, had hit a century in his official One-day international debut. A virtual all rounder, he was  forced to take on a triple role of captaincy when his best test innings also earned Zimbabwe their first test victory. Though he relinquished captaincy after two years, he has to take on as captaincy again as caretaker when Alister Campbell resigned in November 1999.
